Buildings in the Care of the
Historic Chapels Trust

Buildings of all denominations and faiths can be taken into care of the Historic Chapels Trust with the exception of Anglican churches which are eligible for vesting in the Churches Conservation Trust (formerly the Redundant Churches Fund) of the Church of England. Our remit embraces Nonconformist chapels, Roman Catholic churches, synagogues and private Anglican chapels. Most of our buildings are graded I or II* on the Statutory Lists.
In addition to the properties below currently in our care, negotiations are well advanced for the acquisition of other properties by the Trust.
Our properties are open to visitors and occasional services of worship are held. Wherever possible we encourage non-denominational community use of the repaired buildings for purposes compatible with their former religious character.
